My suggestion depends on your age, if you’re below 18 then you can’t use >500 fps guns legally (they’re considered firearms). So, if you’re under 18, then I’d suggest a Walther Nighthawk. Nice gun, well made, pretty much guaranteed to last. It should be able to handle squirrels/birds no problem, at least I’ve found it no problem to do so. If you’re over 18, then you’ve got a wide variety of choice, I believe cabelas. com has some nice high-powered guns that would do the job. Your choice also seems like a good one. It’s really up to you, a gun preference is a personal choice.
The best air rifles are made by RWS Diana. They are quite expensive. you can buy a . 22 rimfire rifle for less money.
I have a Benjamin . 20 caliper pellet rifle that I bought used 30 years ago. It has killed many red squirrels and will still take a rabbit with one shot.
When I was 12 years old most of my friends and I had Crosman 760 pump up BB/pellet guns. We all shot a lot of squirrels and rabbits along with a few birds. Most of those guns were ruined by being pumped too much and damaging seals. The 760 is still being made and is a good rifle if it isn’t abused. Crosman makes the Remington air rifles.
Don’t rule out Daisy. While they are best known for the Red Rider BB gun they make some high end air rifles, too. Check out the 880 and Pumpmaster.
I can’t recommend any air rifle for killing an animal bigger than a rabbit. For raccoons, porcupines or groundhogs I wouldn’t want anything less than a . 22 long rifle.
Here is a good source for air rifles: http://www. airgunsbbguns. com
