Location, Location, Location!There are few things that are more important than location. It not only applies to real estate, but to fundraising too. Here are some tips to expand your horizons when trying to maximize your fundraising efforts. Traditionally, fundraising efforts are concentrated on: -Friends-Neighbors-Relatives-Co-workersBesides the usual suspects, there is a whole lot of money in other places right under your nose. You have to go where the money is. The big money in fundraising is being located where people are shopping. They are out and about with cash or checkbooks in hand. There’s no better time than that for offering a quality fundraising product at these locations:-Drugstores-Home Improvement Stores-Grocery Stores-Shopping MallsDrugstores – Nice entry-level sales spot. Generally have good sidewalk space available. Home Improvement Stores – Big weekend traffic spots. Lots of do it yourselfers diving in to their next project. Grocery Stores – Prime hunting grounds for product fundraisers. A small, high-quality food item does real well here. Shopping Malls – Hard to get approval for outside space, but a location near the food court is golden. And don’t forget the 800-pound gorilla: Wal-Mart – The Holy Grail of fundraising locations. A day spent fundraising in front of this high-traffic retailer is like being in fundraising heaven. You’ll have more potential prospects than you can shake a stick at. Because of the sheer volume of Wal-Mart shoppers, you’ll need oversize signage to get your fundraising message across quickly before your prospects hurry on inCasing the Joint Ahead of TimeYou want the best location for your weekend fundraising table. Scope out the lay of the land. Check which entrance gets the most foot traffic. Find out who is in charge at this location. Often it’s the store manager, but occasionally it might require approval from the regional manager or shopping center management. Don’t expect them to drop everything to speak with you. If necessary, set up an appointment to seek permissionBe prepared with a two-minute overview ofWho – Tell them who you (and your group) areWhat – Describe what your fundraiser involvesWhen – Have a primary date and an alternate one picked outWhere – Identify the exact spot you’d like to useWhy – Give the specific reason you are raising fundsHow – Summarize your proposed activities at their locationIt’s a good idea to have everything written up in a well-prepared letter. Stick to the basics as described above. If you have group letterhead, use it! Make sure that everything will go smoothly. Ask for the name of the contact person for your chosen date. You want to stake your claim right there. There should also be plenty of room for people to get by. Signage – Look for good places to hang your signs and posters. They should be bright and bold with wording visible from thirty feet away. Highlight major benefits of the product and be sure to identify your purposeTable Space – You want a large folding table, preferably 36×72. Place folding chairs on the side away from the door. Use a full-sized tablecloth to improve presentation. Staffing – Schedule your fundraising teams with overlapping adult/child pairs. You want two adults and two children covering each 90-minute shift. Stagger the start/departure times by 30 minutes to avoid resource shortages. Pulling It OffTo really break the bank, you have to have everything well planned. Timing and presentation are everything. You only have 30 seconds to capture your prospects attention and convince them to stop. Your fundraising should be well thought out in these areas:Product – Make sure to choose a high-profit, cash and carry fundraiser. Fast food discount cards are excellent. So are quality food items such as cookies and gourmet treats like fudge. Sales items should be small, highly portable, and attention getting in their own right. Samples – Product samples should be well-displayed and readily offered to each prospective client. In the case of food items, plates or trays of small nibble-sized morsels should be offered by the children involved. Presentation – Sell the sizzle, not the steak! Accentuate product benefits, not features. Would you rather have a juicy, mouth-watering, flame-broiled Whopper or a hamburger?Sales Patter – Talk a good game! Work from a loose script. Write down your best talking points as itemized bullets. Keep it short and simple. Tell them about your cause and be sure to ask for their helpLocation WrapAs you’ve seen, a great location delivers hundreds of potential customers right to you. All you have to do is stake your claim to the prime turf and go for it!Don’t wait for your next fundraiser to suddenly grow wings. Plan ahead and pull off your own bank job instead. The Simlipal National Park is endowed with exceptional foliage and there are almost 1,000 species of flowering plants, and 94 varieties of orchids! Twelve rivers cut across the plain area and Joranda and Barehipani waterfalls are a refreshing attraction for tourists. Historically SpeakingIn the ancient days, this reserve was the hunting ground of the Mayurbhanj Maharajas. Their excessive hunting endangered the wildlife, and in 1979 the government declared a small area as a sanctuary. In 1986, the area of the National Park was increased to prevent poaching. ShoppingLocal stone crafts can be found here but there’’s not any more scope for shopping. EventsThe Santhal tribes that live in the Simlipal forest celebrate with a feast and dance during January. Tourists can attend if prior permission is sought. Night OutDining facilities at the park are inadequate. It is recommended you take tuck and water along. Meals are best had at the hotel or lodges. ActivitiesTake a wildlife safari and view the various flora and fauna in the park. You may get lucky and spot a leopard or a tiger apart from other animals you can expect to see like deers and herds of elephants. For the adventurous there are several options for trekking, or simply just take a leisurely walk and imbibe the beauty of it all. SightsThe forest and ecology provide the perfect environment for some of the most beautiful creatures of the world to exist in. You might be luck to spot a leopard or a tiger on your safari. You may get lucky and come across some deer, or herds of elephants, walking across your path. Ramtirtha has an additional attraction – crocodile rearing. So take a trip and give the reptile a visit! Similipal has so much to offer “?” cool fresh air, sights that soothe the eyes and sounds that feel like music to your ears. The picturesque landscape, the whistling wind, the waterfalls, the cool climate, the thick vegetation are great energizers and a refreshing change to the hub of city life. How to get there by AirThe nearest airports are Kolkata at 250 kms and Bhubaneshwar is 300 kms away. How to get there by RailThe nearest railhead is Baripada (17 km). Other important stations are Balasore (76 km from Lulung) and Jamshedpur (115 km from Jashipur). How to get there by BusBaripada, is 170 km from Bhubaneswar, 240 from Kolkata and 60 km from Balasore and 22 km from Pithabata, which is an entry point. The other entry point Jashipur is 94 km from Baripada on N. H. 6. Both the places are well connected by regular bus services. Best time to VisitThe park is open from November to mid June. But the best time to visit is before the onset of summer. Hotels in SimlipalWithin the park the accommodation and dining facilities are terribly inadequate. The best place to put up is Baripada, which has a choice of hotels to offer to the tourists. Forest reserve bungalows are available at Aranyanivas at Lulung (3 km from Pithabata . OTDC also offers dormitory accommodationfor the budget traveler Private hotels are in Jashipur and Baripada. Barheipani has log cabins with a spectacular view of waterfalls and an abundance of orchids. Nearby PlacesKhiching , 60 km from the park is an ancient capital with many ruins of temples. And famous for the shrine of Kichakeswari. There is some great colourful stone craft here. Chandipur (60 km from Baripada) is a unique Beach Resort where the sea – water recedes about 5 km twicea day. It is an astounding sight. Deokund (65 km from Baripada and 110 km from Balasore) is an amazing place with a series of waterfalls and a Shakti shrine. Dachshund puppies attract a wider variety of owners with their comical personalities. They can be known as the clowns of the family. Loyalty is key when understanding this type of breed and makes it a great family pet. Lots of attention and games are demanded by all varieties of dachshund puppies.
These little dogs are known for their short legs and long bodies. Dachshund puppies are very lovable animals but do require care when handling. Their backs are very sensitive and can sustain injury. As a general rule you will want to limit these dogs from jumping onto and off of high objects. These type of limits may seem over board but when considering dachshund puppies as an addition to your family must be taken into account. Your pups back will need to last him a long time as they have been known to have life spans of up to and sometimes longer than twenty years. Dachshund puppies will be around for a long time so this simple fact is something you will want to think about as their life span is literally twice as long as well known breeds.
Many consider these dogs to be one of the most perfectly bread hunting dogs. Obviously the size of the game you are hunting needs to be with in the dachshund puppies realm for this to be an appropriate title. The main focus of this little hunters fury were once the mighty badger. The name alone, dachshund, literally means ‘badger hunter. ‘ If you think about it, dachshund puppies were built for such a tall order. When a badger wakes up from his nap in that confined burrow of his, he is faced with a long snout that is equipped with many long sharp teeth. In the smallness of a burrow or tunnel the over sized ears give the dog the appearance of being larger than they really are. They are backed up with that long narrow sturdy back. The dachshunds foundation is the short powerful hind legs that make him quite formidable in tight spots. Finally, the dachshund has a long tail that enable their owners to reach down that burrow and pull out the dog if that badger sounds like he is getting the best of him.
Training dachshunds can be a task and formal obedience training is always plus. The effects of having a trained dog handler work with your dogs can lay a great foundation. You must be sure to keep close attention to the way the dog training handles your dog so that you are able to apply these same techniques outside of class. Be consistent in applying the proper technique and you’ll have a much happier dog. Dachshund puppies do require exercise and should be taken on daily walks. A leash is always recommended as they are hunting dogs and can be known to chase and can quickly be out of reach. Dachshund puppies make great companions and will need plenty of companionship and attention. Some trainers think that a lack of attention can lead to loneliness and excessive barking. No one likes a dog that will not keep quiet and your neighbors will certainly appreciate it.
Now that we know a little bit about where dachshund puppies come from and some idea of their training, let’s get into some tips you can apply right away.
5 Tips to a better dachshund puppy:
One of the first things to think about when considering any dog is to look at yourself and find a dog that matches you. A huge mistake that you want to avoid is thinking that getting a dog will help change you. They can be great companions but if you normally are not one for exercise and getting out doors, take this into account when searching for your dog. Dachshund puppies are very good at adapting and fit well with many different life styles.
These dogs normally make terrific family pets. Companionship is important in life of all dachshund puppies and family life fits in well for these dogs. They serve as good little watch dogs as well. Their large ears are very well equipped to hear noises that are well beyond the human scope of hearing. They can get possessive of their toys and even certain individuals who they may develop an extra tight bond with. If dachshund puppies are not familiar with children and strangers, they may snap at or even bite. They have been known to respond defensively by snapping and growling if they feel uncomfortable or threatened.
Dachshund puppies are sensitive to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Outside living may prove very uncomfortable for these dogs and is not normally recommended. Depending on where you live and the type of natural predators that may be found in your region, the dachshund may not be able to defend it self to the natives if approached by its lonesome. They do get along well and socialize with other dogs very easily so having other dogs in your pack is fine. When you have dogs such as mastiffs and German shepherds they can provide the needed muscle for any scrape your little hunting dachshund puppies will get into. They are very easily taken care of as an inside pet. They do not require much grooming and are light at shedding. These two traits make them a first choice for inside dog living.
They come in a variety of small sizes, coats, and colors. Dachshund puppies have an equal ability to bring very unique and individual personalities to match their difference in looks. If you are planning on having multiple dogs this means you can really have variety in appearance and characteristics.
Stubbornness is one dominant personality trait of intelligent dogs. A good breed of dachshund puppies will show many signs of intelligence. Stubbornness is something that will best be overcame early on in the long life and this is where obedience training can make a big impact. Excessive barking can be an obvious sign of stubbornness
There is no doubt that dachshund puppies will bring a lot of joy to their owners as long as they are properly cared for. Any breed will require a good portion of money in the beginning for the correct veterinary visits and medication. Be sure to check that your dog has all of the necessary vaccinations. The vaccinations needed will depend on the region that you live and where your dachshund puppy is coming from. Any dog owner should seriously consider spaying or neutering their puppy. The proper care and medications will ensure a long lasting life for your new puppy.
Dachshund puppies make great pets and the decision to bring them into the family should be considered carefully. Overall this breed is fun loving, tenacious and makes a great companion. Be sure your puppy is properly socialized and they will be comfortable in all surroundings. Dachshund puppies are full of character and will provide laughter for many years.

Eight of us from a rural Alaskan Yupik village had decided to travel up the Nushagak and Mulchatna rivers to hunt moose. The hunting party consisted of two teachers and six of the Yupik natives from the village. This was the first day of the moose hunting season and everyone wanted to get one or at least split one. Everyone on the hunt usually received their share of meat. Of course this all depended on how lucky or skillful we were. The season required that we only shoot a Bull Moose. No cows were to be harvested.
The eight of us had traveled in two boats for about two hours. We saw all kinds of cow moose. One of my travel companions even tried to put a rope collar on one cow moose that was swimming in the river. But that is a totally different story for a different time.
Finally we rounded a bend in the river and there stood a two year old Bull Moose drinking from the river. His antlers were still partially in velvet and in the sunlight they were a blood red. Evut, one of the other hunters in our companion boat, got off a quick shot and dropped the moose right where he stood. Moxie, the driver of our boat, said that you didn’t want to let the moose get into the river. He said the four of us would not be able to pull it back on to the shore.
We pulled the boats over to the sandbar where the moose had dropped. We proceeded to clean the animal and hang the sections up in the trees to allow the meat to cool. The meat from the moose was not going anywhere so we decided to go up the river a little bit more to see if any other moose were out. We had only traveled a short distance from the other moose. We came around another bend in the river and there swimming in the middle of the river was a nice big bull moose.
We all remembered what Moxie had said, “Don’t shoot the moose in the river. ” So we drove the boat up beside the moose. He was swimming towards the shoreline of the river. As he proceeded to walk out of the river I lowered my rifle and set my scope on the back of his head. This crazy moose knew what he was doing he walked straight away from us. That way the only shot a hunter had was the back of his head or risk damaging a lot of meat with an intestine or gut shot.
As I centered my scope on the back of his head, just below the crown of his antlers, I slowly squeezed the trigger. My rifle erupted and this very large moose dropped straight to the ground. I had hit him exactly where I had aimed and did not destroy any meat or any part of the antlers.
We were not going to keep the antlers because most, if not all of the Yupik hunters, did not believe in “trophy hunts”. They only hunted to sustain the lives of their families and others living in the village.
Again we cleaned and cut the animal into sections. We then hung the sections in the tree to allow the air to get to the meat and cool the temperature down so it would not spoil. It was still early in the day so we decided we would go up the Mulchatna River just a little bit further to see if we could catch some caribou down by the river drinking.
During the thirty minutes we traveled up the river, we did not find any caribou but we did see many Bald Eagles flying around, perched in the top of trees, and feeding on dead salmon. We decided to turn the boats around and head back down the river to retrieve the moose we had killed and hung up to cool earlier that morning.
We stopped at the spot where I had shot my moose. We collected the six sections and placed them in the boat. With four hunters and six sections of a butchered moose in the boat, space was very limited. We decided since it was getting late in the day we had better head down river, collect the sections from the first moose of the day and head towards home.
As we neared the area where we had shot the first moose, we came around the bend in the river. We immediately saw a huge Grizzly or Brown bear with a half of the rib cage section in his mouth heading into the brush. We quickly landed the boats on the shore.
I was told to stay by the boat and protect the other hunter’s backs. At the time I did not know what they meant. The other seven hunters quickly entered the brush, tracking the bear as they went. They were determined to get the meat back.
I could hear and follow their direction of travel by all the noise they were making. Then it became very quiet, except for the sound of the river behind me. I could feel my heart pounding in my neck and ears. I was breathing rather quickly also. Then all at once I heard the other hunters yelling and shouting. Then it became totally quiet again, except for the natural sounds of rugged rural Alaska.
My heart was pounding, and I was actually breathing very rapidly. What was going on? I heard a loud snapping of a branch just to my right. As I turned to identify the sound, my fellow hunters came out of the brush.
As they walked towards me, I could tell they were a little upset. I asked them what had happened.
Moxie, the driver of the boat I was in, said they had tracked the bear into the brush. They could all hear him in front of them but the brush was so thick they could not see him. When they broke out on the other side of the brush, they could see the bear with the rib cage still in its mouth running over the top of the hill and out onto the tundra. They had started yelling trying to startle the bear into dropping the meat. Moxie said, “That bear knew exactly what he wanted and there wasn’t any way he was going to give it up. He was too darn hungry. He didn’t even turn his head to look at us. ”
As we were loading up the remainder of the meat into the second boat I asked Moxie why they wanted me to guard the boats while they went into the brush after the bear.
He laughed out loud and said, “We didn’t leave you there to guard the boats. These bears have a nasty habit of circling around behind its prey and attacking. You were protecting our backs and our lives. ” With that he began laughing again as he continued loading the meat.
I pondered what he had said as we traveled back down the two rivers towards our village. I was actually proud that they had trusted me with their lives.
What a great day and a super boat ride back down river into a glorious sunset.

After moving around the Pacific Northwest with his family,Steven R. McCain eventually graduated from high school in 1967. His dreams of participating in collegiate athletics led him back to Pocatello where he was an accomplished athlete in football, waterpolo, swimming and diving. Steven represented his college at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships held at the University of Utah. The earning of an athletic scholarship allowed him to graduate with his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. After graduating, he pursued a career in education and coaching. This eventually led to the earning of his Masters of Arts Degree and his certifications in five fields of study in the Education field. He spent the past thirty six years as a teacher, a coach, and a person that young people could look up to. Steven R. McCain has retired from teaching/coaching and lives with his wife of thirty nine years in the beautiful college community of Boise,Idaho. He is involved in the writing of children’s stories, running in the beautiful foothills and on the greenbelt of the community, and the lives of his grandchildren. As a footnote, his son has moved back to Alaska and is raising his family in this beautiful landscape.

Bυt Ive seen οn three occasions orange lights іn a row (аnd іt аlmοѕt looks lіkе a half circle ѕο im guessing іtѕ circular). thе first time i saw thеm i wаѕ hunting wіth a friend аnd wе wеrе driving οn a dirt road near a river. Wе saw orange colored lights іn thе trees bу thе river, whісh wаѕ maybe half a mile away οr more. Wе both looked аt іt through a low power scope οf a rifle, аnd аt first thουght somebody mіght bе stuck іn a truck οr something out thеrе, bесаυѕе іt seemed lіkе figures wеrе passing іn front οf thе lights. Wе thеn dесіdеd tο gο back tο mу friends house аnd gеt ѕοmе binoculars.(hе lived οnlу a few miles away) Whеn wе gοt back іt wаѕ still thеrе ѕο wе parked along thе road again аnd mу friend looked through thе binoculars аnd іѕ lіkе “dude! thats a ufo!” Sο i looked іn thе binoculars аnd saw a row οf maybe 5 tο 7 orange glowing lights аnd іt looked lіkе people walking around bу thеm. Thеn аftеr i looked, thе thing raised up tο above thе tree line fοr a bit, thеn dissapeared јυѕt lіkе someone flipping a light switch.
Thе next time i saw something similar, іf nοt thе same, i wаѕ driving home wіth a different friend аnd i saw іt out οf thе corner οf mу eye up іn thе sky kind οf tο thе side аnd іn front οf υѕ. It flashed οff once, thеn turned back οn іn a different spot, thеn dissapeared again. Wе both looked аt each οthеr аnd wеrе both lіkе “dіd уου see thаt!?”.
thе mοѕt recent time wаѕ a month ago i wаѕ driving home аnd fοr ѕοmе reason(whісh kinda creeps mе out) i craned mу head аnd looked up thе side window аnd sure enough thеrе wаѕ a row οf orange lights up іn thе sky, аѕ іf οnlу tο ѕау “hey look аt mе″ thеn faded out quickly.
Now, even аftеr seeing аll thіѕ I аm still skeptical, bυt I hаνе seen іt, ѕο I guess i hаνе tο believe something. Bυt i dіd find thе last time kind οf odd, bесаυѕе іt wаѕ аlmοѕt аѕ іf i knew іt wаѕ thеrе, ѕο i looked. And i hаd tο crane mу neck аnd mаkе a conscious effort tο look. coincidence?
I wουld lονе tο hear аnу ѕtοrіеѕ anyone mіght hаνе.

DescriptionThe adult Bald Eagle is evenly brown with a white head and tail. The tail is moderately long and slightly wedge-shaped. Males and females are identical in color. The beak, feet, and eyes are bright yellow. The legs are feather-free, and the toes are short and powerful with large talons. The plumage of the immature is brown, speckled with white until the fifth year, when it reaches sexual maturity. The Bald Eagle is a large bird, with a body 28–40 inches, a wingspan of 66 in to 96 in and weight of 5. 5–15 lbs. Females are about 25 percent larger than males, adult females averaging 13 lb. and males averaging 9. 0 lb. The average life span of Bald Eagles in the wild is around 20 years. Habitat and RangeThe Bald Eagle prefers habitats near seacoasts, rivers, large lakes, oceans, and other large bodies of open water with an abundance of fish. The Bald Eagle is extremely sensitive to human activity, and is found most commonly in areas free of human disturbance. The Bald Eagle’s natural range covers most of North America, including most of Canada, all of the continental United States, and northern Mexico. Diet and BehaviorThe Bald Eagle is a powerful flier, and soars on thermal currents. It reaches speeds of 35–43 mph when gliding and flapping, and about 30 mph) while carrying fish. Its dive speed is between 75–99 mph though it seldom dives vertically. The Bald Eagle’s diet is opportunistic but most feed mainly on fish. In the Pacific Northwest, spawning trout and salmon provide most of the diet. To hunt fish, their most important live prey, the eagle swoops down over the water and snatches the fish out of the water with its talons. They eat by holding the fish in one claw and tearing the flesh with the other. When competing for food, eagles will usually dominate other fish-eaters and scavengers, aggressively displacing mammals such as coyotes and foxes, and other birds or raptors.
