I like Leopould or nikon, so, id say go with the nikon. I like thier optics, from cameras to scopes to microscopes.
The Nikon for sure. . . . forget that other name. Leupold is also a great scope and there are a few for 400. 00 or less.

I went scope shopping recently, and I would recommend the Bushnell Elite. The reviews seemed to be better. I would also have to recommend the Leupold (obviously . . . ), Zeiss, Nikon Monarch, and Burris scopes. I’m sure you could find something for $400 that would be spectacular.
Good Luck!,

split the difference, get the nikon in a 2. 5-10 I don’t know very many bushnell users who are happy with them, nikons are a good solid scope. however for most 7 mag purposes a 2. 5-10 makes more sense, for anything that you’ll likely use this rifle on you’ll want the wider field of view and you’ll never find a need to have anything over 9-10 power for big game, except maybe for the novelty in the beginning, few people keep their scope set very high unless hunting in the wide open
It all depends on how serious you are. I’d stay away from Bushnell. Yes they do make some higher end optics but they also make some real K-Mart $29. 99 junk. I hear Nikon is pretty good but I have no experience with their scopes. You mentioned a budget of $400. 00 so that tells me you are not skimping, check out Leupold. My opinion is that they make the best scope for the money. It is made in the U. S. A. , nitrogen filled and have a life time warranty. That’s what I use and have never needed the warranty.
I just put a Leupold VX-1 4-12×40 mm on my Remington 700 HHR 7mm Rem Mag. I got it new for $234. So far I like it a lot. I realize the gun deserves something with a higher price. But for now it works great.
According to Optics Planet, both scopes have more than 3 inches of eye relief, so you should be safe from scope cuts on your 7mm Magnum, the King of Scope Cuts! The Bushnell, however, will allow you to hunt in twilight near the big trees shadows, the very most productive time and situation.
