   The typical setup for deer hunting is a variable power such as a 3-9 power or a 2. 5-10 power. A duplex reticule is the most commonly used. A 40 to 45mm objective lens works well. A larger objective such as a 50 mm sets the scope higher on the rifle and requires higher scope rings. A typical scope would be a 3-9×40

   There are several makers of good riflescopes. They include Nikon, Leupold, Nitrex, Burris, and several others.

   With scopes you get what you pay for. Good scopes have fully, multi coated optics and are sealed with nitrogen. The better the scope, the better the clarity, light transmission, and resolution. You should buy the best you can afford.

   Went and got a new Burris Field Master something 3-9×40. Mounted it on a Paker-Hale in 6mm Rem.

   Really nice scope for $220, I would recommend it to anyone who is in the market for a good little optic.

   Any quality brand scope with a variable 3-9X magnification will serve you well. Nikon, Burris, Leupold, and upper level Bushnell are recommendations.

   If on a budget the Nikon’s offer a lot of value for the $$.
