http://www.tactical-store.com/ts-br-rs-xtr312×50.html#

I рlаn οn putting thіѕ scope οn a savage 308 fοr hunting, target shooting, аnd plinking

I јυѕt саn’t bring mу self tο pony up thе $1200$ fοr a nice leupold snif snif

Basically wіll thіѕ scope take a beating аnd suit mе well fοr shots frοm 75-800 yards

I аlѕο рlаn I going tο Cabela’s tο take a closer look аt each one οf thеѕе scopes tο see hοw I lіkе thеm

All four are excellent, quality, and well built choices for both the gun and use.

out of those I would suggest the 4-12×50. That is about all the magnification you need, and the 50 part means more light collecting ability.

I don’t know how much long range shooting you have done in the past or intend to do now, but. . I would definitely recommend the Leupold VX-II 6-18X 40mm AOT Scope with either a “Fine” Duplex or Target Dot reticule. (If you can afford the difference get the Target Dot Reticule) Mounted on a 308 Win caliber rifle it will hold up and give you the best edge shooting extended ranges. The price is excellent too. I personally don’t think you can go wrong with this choice. . .
I have one of these on a Remington 700 308 Custom Long Range Target Rifle that I use in Competitions and Matches, and I love it (200,400 and 800 yards). . . . . You are right to go check them out in person though. Cabela’s won’t be able to match the price but it’s a good place to go look at them. . . . . .

any scope that falls in with 3-12x magnification and a 30-50 objective lens should do good. I like the duplex crosshairs and cat’s eye (german rectical).

    Check out www. midwayusa. com

They offer about 800 different scopes. They list most of the Leopold line and I think for a bit less money then the Tactical Store. Might also look at the Buris line of scopes while you are at the sight.

The Burris scopes will be fine. I think a Leupold would be better. You might want to wait a bit and save up the extra money for the Leupold, because you will probably have that scope for many years.

Check out the Super Sniper line of scopes. As you can probably guess by their name, they’re made for long range shooting. They’re like a store brand, though, so the prices are pretty good. While a variable power scope is in the works, the only ones that now exist are fixed power. 10x, 16x, and 20x. I have the 10x rear focus. For the price, it’s pretty unlikely that you’ll get any better (though “better” doesn’t mean much if you want a variable powered scope).
