Firing mу grandfather’s .303 Savage аt thе target range-100 yards. Thіѕ rifle іѕ chambered іn thе rare .303 caliber, whісh іѕ nο longer available. Thіѕ rifle wаѕ manufactured іn 1915 іn Utica, NY. (Thе rounds I fired wеrе handloads – nοt factory ammunition.)

hmmm. iv never seen one of these before. hang on to these old rifles. iv gotton old guns from my grandfather and you have to keep those things in the family. and id like to add that this looks like a great gun
Thanks man!
That’s good news. . . Hornady is a high quality company! I’ll be watching for it.

Nice to be able to use you grantfather’s gun. Nice scope too. Hope you get lots of deer with it!

My dad has one of those, manufactured in 1909. Shot my first deer with it last December =)
Good looking gun!
?????
you CAN get deals especially in this ecconomy. . . . yesterday I put a 99 on law-a-way, it was $499. 00 no scope, BUT recoil pad (OUCH). oh, its a take down in 80% -made in ‘28. . . . Can’t wait to take it in the woods!
anybody know HOW ‘hot’ you can load bullets for the 30-30 in a model 99? Should be able to go quite a bit more pressure than those ‘winchesters’?????
if anyone is looking for ammunition for their 303 Savage, Elwood Epps in Orillia Ontario Canada sells them by the box for 80$ Canadian
I have a 99 J in 300 savage all original nothing’s been drilled , not even for swivel studs.
Awesome rifle , shame it fell.
awesome gun, i got mine from my dad, its been passed down through our family, since 1908, his great great grandfather started handed it to his sone, then to my grandfather, my dad and then i. just wish that they never would have stopped production of the 303 Savage cartridge, if anyone knows any tips for reloading send me a message, i just need a recipe
Shame it was drilled and tapped.
At first I thought that was . 303 British, but then I looked it up, . 303 Savage, right? That looks like a great rifle!
ahahaha i still use mine for deer hunting and maybe moose next year if i can get a tag mine shoots withing 1/4 of an inch circle at 50 yards and it hasnt been sighted in for all the years its been in the family
Ya id say its in fairly good condition for being so old. the blueing is wore off the reciever & lever from handling. other than that, its got a mint bore and shoots 1/2″ groups at 100 yards. its not my gun tho, its my grandfathers. he put that scope on it before i was even born. i agree with you-he shouldnt have scoped it. the gun would be worth wayy more without it on there. bad move by him lol!!!
i actulyl have this gun now my dad just had it fixed by soem one he knows these guns are worth like 1500+ depending on the condition they are adn year. . . yours looks to be in very good condition if i were you keep the gun in that condition and never get rid of it i am keeping mine and using it for deer hunting cause i know some one that can make the bullets. . . . . . ps in my opinion you shouldnt have put the scope on it
