Now NY dοеѕ permit thе MAC 10 whісh ѕοmе people consider thе American UZI.

You’ll be happy. . . until you have to continuously buy ammunition. It will cost you a TON of money, especially with the burst rate at which it shoots. If you want to have some fun, purchase a semi-auto . 22. You can buy 500 rounds for less than $20 and have a great time.
IF its the closest thing to what you want then buy it now and you can possibly get the other one (if you move) in the future. I have shot both and am not realy a fan of either one. It just wasnt my thing. I have a beretta 9mm with a 30 round clip that suits me fine. LOL. Even though the clip is now banned here in california. Good luck and happy shooting
Nobody on here can truly tell you if you will be happy. if you have it made up in your mind that you will then you very well may. That is for you to decide.
It will be a great fun gun. 9mm could get expensive unless you buy in bulk or take up reloading. The sights are a bit crude for my liking and with a 3″ barrel, I cannot imagine accuracy will be very good but it should be ok.
may I suggest a progressive stage reloader
I think a MAC-10 is perfect for reader. I think the scope is a little over the top and suggest a spotter work with you using
both electronic rangefinder and scope fitted to tripod.
Skip the scope. Mac’s look silly with a scope because they are no help at all, and, so will you trying to aim and actually use it.
You will like it. They are a hoot if you have someone else with one to shoot with.

Shooting a “fun gun” like the MAC10 can be great therapy.
The MAC’s true popularity never had anything to do with practical applications, instead it had to do with the gun’s cool looks and it’s suitability for recreational blasting.
Get yourself a red-dot sight or a green “daylight laser” and a fake silencer or barrel extension while you’re at it. Ascessories such as these just make shooting a MAC even more fun.
In short, you’ll love it.
In my life time I’ve only viewed a couple of MACs that were capable of automatic and semi-auto firing. I always believed that they were the American UZI. At least with the early ones, (the ones I saw but did not fire) their rate of fire was considerably faster than the UZI’s rate of fire. Which means that they ran out of ammo quicker. If memory serves me MAC even manufactured one model chambered for . 380 acp that was twice as fast as the UZI. They also produced a . 45 acp MAC sometime after that.
Wasn’t the . 380 MAC featured in John Wayne’s 1974 movie McQ? That . 380 was so loud (due to its rapid rate of fire) that it had to be equipped with a suppressor. I was in McAllen, TX. that year when a couple of Texas Rangers walked into a gun shop asking about a large purchase of . 380 acp ammo. I overheard them say that no one made a submachine chambered for . 380 acp and so they weren’t going to follow up on the ammo purchase (apparently the gun shop had notified them of the large ammo purchase). I interrupted their conversation and informed them of the submachine that was chambered for the . 380 round and not only capable of full-auto firing but was factory suppressed. They looked at me like if they didn’t know whether to believe me or not until they learned of my LE background.
