You’re sighting it in at too close of a distance. The lack of accuracy is magnified when you move the target farther away from you. Zero it in at a distance of no less than 50 yards. 100 yards would be even better. Once you zero it in at 50 yards or more it will shoot much more accurately at all distances.
The path of the bullet is level and the sight is pointed down at an angle. When mounted on the carry handle the sight has to point downward at an angle in order to line up with the path of the bullet at the distance you zeroed it in at (30 yds). At 60 yds the bullet path is still level but the sight path has moved below the bullet path and at 15 yds the sight path is still above the bullet path.
When I was in the army we always zeroed our red dots and acogs at 25 meters but we never mounted them on our carrying handle, whyd you do that? Just mount it on your rail and get a flip up rear iron sight.
A new reddot should just about attatch to your rifle and hit the target at 50 yds,. right out a the box. Firing it from more than 75 yds it really isn’t as accurate as you would like. It;s made for CQB. The Dot at 100 yds is about equivalent to a 24″ circle.
Just stay within the 50-60 yard range.
The height of carry handle with set it off differently than if was mounted closer to the barrel.
