A scope views from above the gun barrel, so the bullet and the scopes focal point meet at parallax.
If what you are firing at is closer than parallax, you will hit low, if it’s past, you’ll miss high.
I put a target at the distance I want to sight into, then I put the gun in a position thats easily repeatable. repeatability is the key, the gun MUST be in the same placement while sighting to have any sort of accuracy.
my father used to pound two nails into a piece of wood and set the guns stock on them, making sure to place the gun in the same position each time before firing a sighting round.
Put your target at 35 yds, fire three(3*) shots, then adjust your windage and elevation if necessary, Then put your target up at 100yds and repeat the above. . .
