A 6-24×50 scope has an adjustable magnification from 6x to 24x normal vision. The 50 is the exit aperture (opposite eyepiece) and is in millimeters of diameter. A larger aperture allows for two things: Field of view and more light into the scope. The drawback is that larger aperture scopes need to be mounted higher above the barrel and increase the parallax error at longer distances.
I also just noticed you said it was for an air rifle. This sounds like a rifle scope and would not be appropriate for an air rifle as firearm scopes are designed for standard recoil and airguns have rebound recoil and require a scope specifically designed for them or they will possibly break.

That’s an awful lot of scope for a little gun.
For shooting targets at 100 yards, 4x to 6x is PLENTY of magnification. And, with that air rifle, I doubt you’ll ever shoot anything that far away. 24x is the sort of thing people who shoot 600 yards or farther use.
As for the guy saying you’ll break a rifle scope with an airgun, that’s just silly. Unless your airgun suddenly develops recoil beyond that of a hi-power centerfire rifle, it will work just fine.
