It’s an okay rifle. Get it if you can find it for the right price.
GET A RUGER there is NO greater 10/22 than the ruger I know people who have them that have been passed down and they are on there 3rd generation
Not a bad gun at all. You might be getting more for your money with the 10/22, with all of its customization options and gadgets. . . but if your heart is set on the Plinkster, you have about the right price. I looked this up, and found this: http://www. gunsinternational. com/MOSSBERG-802-PLINKSTER. cfm?gun_id=100111155
But then again, that doesn’t come with a scope. Without too much experience with the Plinkster, I would say your price range is pretty fair.
Mossberg seems to make a few different versions of this rifle, with different prices. The ones I looked at did not come with a scope; however, a . 22 rifle scope is only about $30 in most stores. That leaves you paying about $200 bucks for this bolt action rifle – and that seems pricey to me.
I bought a Mossberg 702, a semi auto . 22, for my Grand Son a couple years ago. Got it at the local Wal Mart store as a scope and rifle package, paid about $140 for the gun. It is a decent quality, reliable, and reasonably accurate gun for the money. Below is an example of the rifle.

The Ruger 10/22, some are advising, will cost you about $200. I’m not that much of a fan of the 10/22. The biggest advantage it has is the huge array of aftermarket items for it. My wife has one and it is not as accurate as my 40 year old Remington Nylon 66. And, I had a heck of a time finding reliable rotary magazines for it. Still, if you like to hang stuff off your rifle, the Ruger is the way to go.
I agree get the ruger. I have never had anything but trouble from my Mossberg. Hell, they are made in Brazil. My actually blew up a while back. They suck, period
