yes, japanese usually have better quality control and pride there self on it. i know of several items that have gone down the drain since the contracts moved from japan to other places in the world.

No one buys American anymore. . . and then we wonder what happened to our economy?

All things being equal, the quality (fit and finish, durability) of Japanese made goods is usually better than those made in China.

Japanese made tends to be far superior to Chinese. There is a reason for this too.
A lot of manufacturers who outsource their manufacturing tend to go through China because it will save them a considerable amount of cash increasing their profit margins.
The reason they save money in China is because more often than not lower quality materials are used to manufacture the product.
Now the Japanese take pride in giving the consumer the best possible product anything less would be dishonorable and unacceptable.
You will pay more for Japanese made but you can rest assured you are getting a quality product.
You don’t see Honda or Toyota outsourcing very often but you will see them making various components for other companies.
Eg: Toyota Matrix & Pontiac Vibe two similar vehicles one by Toyota and one by GM both have Toyota engines.

Hope that wasn’t too long winded for you.

Many US companies make some of the best hunting scopes you will ever find. Some times looking in you back yard is better.
