I bουght a Savage Model 10 rifle іn 7mm Rem Mag. It’s a package gun thаt comes wіth a Simmons scope pre-mounted аnd supposedly already zero’d іn. Anyway, whеn I рυt thе rifle tο mу shoulder аnd look through thе scope, thе lines іn thе reticle аrе nοt straight un/down аnd left/rіght. It іѕ аѕ іf thе entire reticle wаѕ turned аbουt a quarter οf аn inch counter clockwise. It’s really odd. Iѕ thеrе a way tο сοrrесt thіѕ? I tried twisting thе front аnd rear bells (thе rear turns bυt front dοеѕ nοt) аnd thіѕ didn’t change anything. Anу іdеаѕ οn hοw tο fix іt, οr dο I hаνе a warranty issue?
Thanks.

Turning the “Bells” will not work. You need to loosen the Scope Mount Rings (Held in place with 4 small screws) 2 screws on each ring. Loosen them just enough that the whole Scope will move and adjust the scope “body” by turning it till the crosshairs are perfectly vertical, then re-tighten the screws. . . . You are done. . Not an warranty issue. . Easily adjusted. . . .
NOTE* Savage uses a Bore sighted Laser beam to zero their scopes at production. This means you can still adjust the Camber as I advised and it WILL NOT affect the scope
“zeroing” or settings. . . . . . . . .
First check your ‘hold` in a mirror to be sure
you’re not canting the rifle.
J D has the right fix for the canted scope recticule,
but I’d guess that if they got this wrong, the
boresighting job probably wasn’t so good either.
It’s done at short range, and if the rifle was canted,
the boresighting is likely to be ‘off`.
Yes, you will need to loosen the scope and correct its camber.
Now, if the store or shop was supposed to “zero” the scope, they didn’t, or at least didn’t do it properly. I’d give them a call and ask them to fix it. . . . but really, you should be learning how to do this yourself if you are going to be using it. Always use only the proper sized screwdriver and don’t strip or overtighten the screws.
I’ve got site with a step through guide on this, from the sound of it you need to take it off and start over.
It most likely was installed incorrectly at the store. Most likely the cause is the scope is rotated slightly in the rings. You would Need to loosen the screws on the rings and rotate the scope so that the cross hairs are in correct alignment. If the gun is new, just take it back to the store and have them correct the problem. You could easily do it but when they installed the scope, they may have put something like Lock Tight on the screws and they may be difficult to loosen. Add to this the fact that you probably don’t have screw drivers specifically made for gun screws and you can see why it is better to just take it back to the store and have them correct the problem.
Before you go moving the scope around in the rings. Are the adjustment turrets stright up and down? If they are and the retecul is still canted counter clock wise. Then it is indeed a warrenty issue. If the whole scope is turned then procede as JD explained.
First, make sure you are holding the gun straight up and down. Then others have explained what to do very well.
