Anyone whο shoots varmints long distance, 250+ yards, I аm having trουblе wіth mу scope аnd heat waves. Iѕ thеrе a filter I саn υѕе tο gеt rid οf heat waves οr reduce thеіr effect οn thе image? I’m using a Weaver K6, I lονе thіѕ scope аnd don’t want a higher power unless thаt wіll solve thе heat wave problem I’m having.
MM, аrе уου talking аbουt heatwaves coming frοm thе rifle barrel? I’m asking аbουt heat waves coming frοm thе land.

get higher scope mounts so you can see over the heat waves!
in the 1800’s on the plains they used sights that were higher to avoid this even on flint locks!
Hi
For now you may have to live with the atmospheric distortion problem. I’m sure that you understand the basic principle, the uneven heating of the air and the resulting rising micro currents. In your enviroment, you might want to try a scope with a very large objective lens. This gives a little more averaging of the light path and so cuts down a little on the distortions.
The old thought is that twinkle twinkle little star makes it hard to hit that darn critter.
if it is barrel heat that is causing the wave I would recommend a higher scope mount and/or a compensator/dissapitator. If it is general heat from the land/climate I would suggest a different optic because your optic isn’t able to see through it like some other are designed too. NightForce is expensive but they make scopes for our troops out in the sandbox so I know those work. . . and further than 250yds and in hotter weather
