Used Leupold Vari-X II or a new Leupold Rifleman.
I like mt Nikon prostaff 3-9X50. I paid $200 for it and the 3-9X40 is only about $150.
Yes, the Leupold VX-I and Nikon ProStaff are both better 3-9×40 scopes in that price range. I have both, the Leupold is the better scope, but it costs more $.
I have always felt the more you spend on optics the happier you will be. If on a fixed amount you should consider the best of those you can afford and do the comparisons on each. I have many Leupold’s, and have found that Nikon makes a damn good scope for much cheaper cost. As far as Binoculars go it is Swarovski all the way. Each time I pick them up to use them the money spent is null and void.
