Don’t worry about it. They are pretty much one-in-the-same. Its like the difference between M-16 and AR-15. The idea is the same, just one is the military name and one is the civilian name. They are interchangeable, so you will be fine.
I would recommend looking through a brownells catalog or Midway. com for the mounts. The mounts designed specifically for the AR will:
*Have a similar finish (parkerized)
*Fit with the tactical theme (you don’t want grandpa’s thumb screws to mess up the look)
*Provide better accuracy. The Picatinny rail has the slots all through it like a ladder. The corrrect mount will utilize these by having the screw go through these slots, which helps to lock it in place. Weaver mounts won’t.
Don’t settle for somrthing at a local store. Mounts are a serious part of the sight system. There are many heights, and different styles to choose from. Look at the GG&G stuff.
